Saturday, starting at 4:00 pm in the hotel restaurant.
In Britain, there is a tradition (dating from the mid-1800s) of serving a meal, around mid-afternoon, featuring light fare such as fruits, scones and pastries, sweets, and finger sandwiches and other savory foods. And, of course, tea! The idea of an afternoon tea, of “High Tea”, spread across high society and became a favorite pastime of ladies of leisure. Later, it spread beyond those highest echelons of society and became more accessible to other groups as well. As the Gilded Festival is a celebration of both the past and class, we present our version of this social tradition! Come and enjoy an hour of socializing on Saturday afternoon with other Festival attendees, and sample many delicious teas as well as light fare exquisitely prepared and served by the hotel! (IMPORTANT NOTE: Additional tickets must be purchased in advance for this event, at the cost of $25, and are available HERE.)
